OnePlus has officially announced the OnePlus Nord.

As we heard before, the first OnePlus Nord device will launch in Europe and India, although no date has yet been set for its full unveiling or release. In non-marketing speak, that means devices that have some premium features but come in at prices that undercut flagship devices from other companies. Now we are excited to share the OnePlus experience with even more users around the world through this new product line.

That's why the company is making such a big song and dance about OnePlus Nord, a "product line" of lower-priced devices that recaptures the original OnePlus spirit.

The new direction is in response to feedback from OnePlus fans who are no doubt unhappy with the higher prices OnePlus phones have commanded in recent years.

OnePlus is yet to reveal any OnePlus Nord specs, so it's not clear what exactly you'll be getting for your sub-$500 outlay, but OnePlus has said there will be 100 units available for pre-order at 9am on July 1, 2020. As per the tweet, the upcoming OnePlus smart TVs will be launched at a starting price of under Rs 20,000. While it wasn't quite as expensive as the Galaxy S20 Ultra, at $899, it's well within the flagship price range. The announcement was easy to miss, however, showing up in an Instagram story on the firm's 'onepluszlitething' account. This means that the new OnePlus phone will be significantly cheaper than the OnePlus 8 series that is now starting at $699 or Rs. 41,999.
