Derby County defender Andre Wisdom is now in hospital after being stabbed during a robbery in Liverpool, the English second-tier club said on Monday.

A former Liverpool player was reportedly robbed and stabbed this past weekend, and is now in hospital being treated for his injuries.

He's been stabbed and is in hospital.

Former Liverpool right-back Andre Wisdom was taken to hospital after he was knifed and robbed at Toxteth, Merseyside as he went to visit a relative. "It's insane. I can't believe it".

The defender was hospitalised but is in a stable condition.

The 27-year-old has made 20 appearances in all competitions for the side this season and featured for the full 90 minutes in Saturday's home league win against Reading.

"The club will focus its efforts on supporting Andre and his family".

Derby County said on Twitter: "Get well soon, Wis".

A source said: "It's very bad news". It was totally unprovoked.

After falling out of favour at Anfield, Wisdom moved to Derby in 2017 and has played for the Rams ever since.

Wisdom joined Liverpool as a teenager, making his first-team debut under Kenny Dalglish in the 2012/13 season, before loan spells at Derby, West Brom, Norwich and Red Bull Salzburg. They are just three points off the play-off places at present.
