"We're pleased to add the Impossible Breakfast Sandwich, made with Impossible plant-based sausage, to Starbucks menu in the USA, to meet the growing customer-interest in plant-based options", said Michael Kobori, Chief Sustainability Officer at Starbucks.

Available in most U.S. locations, the "Impossible Breakfast Sandwich" is made with a cage-free fried egg and cheddar cheese on ciabatta bread, Starbucks said in a press release.

This summer, Starbucks is checking off a couple of crucial boxes on their list of plant-based to-do's: In early June the chain released a new vegan pink drink, and now they're launching the meatless breakfast sandwich they promised to deliver.

Impossible's founder and CEO Patrick O. Brown called the alliance "a new benchmark for large corporations".

Those who adhere to a vegan lifestyle should be advised that Starbucks' new breakfast sandwich is not vegan.

Beyond Meat's collaboration extended to a new menu that debuted in China as Starbucks' shops were slowly reopening following the outbreak.

At the start of this year, Impossible Foods unveiled Impossible Pork and Impossible Sausage meat substitutes at the CES 2020 show in Las Vegas.

After the news caught consumer's attention, a spokeswoman said, "Starbucks works with a variety of suppliers around the globe", defending the new Impossible Breakfast Sandwich.

Last month, Impossible Foods also scored a major win when it announced it had reached a deal to stock its patties in Kroger's 1,700 stores in the U.S. The product followed the same path as the Impossible Whopper before it, with that burger item cited as a significant traffic driver at the fast food giant.

That includes a new non-dairy cold foam platform, including Cold Brew with Cinnamon Almondmilk Foam, featuring the chain's Cold Brew topped with cinnamon, vanilla and almond milk cold foam, and Cold Brew with Dark Cocoa Almondmilk Foam, which features Cold Brew with mocha sauce, cocoa power and almond milk cold foam.
