According to the Business Times, the plan is still for the park to open before the end of 2020 though when exactly it will open is still a mystery.

Nintendo and Universal Parks & Resorts tied up in 2015 and announced they would bring Nintendo-themed areas within Universal Studios theme parks around the world, beginning with Osaka's before the now-postponed Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

As Connor reported earlier this year, photos from the park's construction started surfacing last year, showing familiar pieces of the Mario landscape like Bowser's castle and a giant hill studded with Question Mark Blocks and a Goal Pole.

The state of emergency has been lifted in Japan, and USJ re-opened on June 8. Only half the number of usual visitors are being allowed in each day, guests must wear masks and submit to temperature checks, and the park is also using a contract tracing system.

While this delay was inevitable, we're still excited to see Super Nintendo World whenever it opens! USJ decided that opening the new area would make that hard.

The first Super Nintendo World section, set to open within Universal Studios Japan, will open later than originally planned.
