Aired in 1988, the episode revolves around the storyline where Michael (Scott Jacoby), the son of Dorothy (Beatrice Author), planning to Wednesday a much older Black woman, Lorraine (Rosalind Cash).

The streamer's removal of this episode makes them the latest in joining a string of other shows which have removed scenes that depict racist content.

Rose (Betty White) and Blanche (Rue McClanahan) can be seen testing out a new mud face treatment.

"Oh my Lord", reacts Lorraine's mother in disbelief. (The family's daughter is marrying the son of Bea Arthur's Dorothy, who is white.) "This is mud on our faces, we're not really Black", Rose says, per the Hollywood Reporter, which refers to the scene as a "blackface scene".

The streaming network Hulu has removed the episode from their catalogue.

The move came at the request of the comedy's distributor, Disney-ABC, Hollywood website Deadline reports.

On Friday, "The Office" creator Greg Daniels confirmed that a scene from the episode "Dwight Christmas", in which a character is in blackface, has been edited out. The streaming service has also removed the dark comedy show The League of Gentleman over its use of a character that wears blackface.
