IT CAN hit 60mph in three seconds... yet this brand new Lamborghini was a gonna in just 20 minutes.

A motorist was left in despair after the luxury auto was smashed in a crash on the M1 in West Yorkshire.

According to police, the sports auto suffered a mechanical failure and broke down in the middle of a road just 20 minutes after it was picked up from the showroom.

Police tweeted: 'M1 Ossett today - it's only a vehicle!

The vehicle is said to have been a Lamborghini Huracan Spyder, which can fetch as much as $266,325 depending on the model, according to Carbuzz.

However, similar models are listed for sale online for between £150,000 and £250,000. The auto had been on the roads for just 20 minutes after being purchased, when the accident took place.

Officers who responded to the crash at around 1 pm on Thursday cordoned off part of the motorway while the Lamborghini and the van were moved to another location. They used a hashtag - #couldhavecried. The driver of the van that crashed from behind suffered head injuries but was not seriously hurt.

Replies on the tweet read, "No need for any trial then?", "Failing to stop before hitting something clearly in the road isn't "innocent" and "Ploughing into people from behind is OK now is it?"
