Michael Brown has warned that opposition sides may target Declan Rice as a West Ham weak link as he is unused to the unique demands of playing at centre-back.

They have already signed Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner, so bringing Rice back to Stamford Bridge would be another major investment for the club. They are also reportedly in the hunt to sign players like Kai Havertz.

Rice is allegedly open to switching position, with Lampard wanting him to play in a back three with the Blues next season and beyond.

The 21-year-old is a highly-rated midfielder and has been one of the most confident performers for the Hammers in recent years.

According to a report published by Sun, Lampard wants Rice to play in defence instead of debuting him in midfield, and according to a report by the Evening Standard is ready to accept the role.

It has been reported that the London rivals feel that they can secure a deal this summer and believe they can get their man for around £45million.

West Ham now sit 17th in the Premier League ahead of their clash with Chelsea next Wednesday, with goal difference the only thing keeping them out the relegation zone.
