He bounced back and once again looked in control with a birdie at 14.

"It was lucky, but a still had to made a good up-and-down to make par", he said.

Dustin Johnson broke out of a slump - for him anyway - to shoot 3-under 67 on Sunday and win the Travelers Championship by two strokes over Kevin Streelman.

Video clips of Canadian Mackenzie Hughes draining a 47-foot birdie putt on No. 17 at the Travelers Championship - making a sharp right turn before heading into the hole - were starting to circulate online when he turned around and drained a 43-footer to birdie No. 18, too. He finished the round with a much straighter 43-foot birdie putt on 18.

Gordon, who has no status on either the PGA Tour or the Korn Ferry Tour, had seven birdies in a 64. Playing this week on a sponsor's exemption, Gordon, the 2019 SEC Player of the Year out of Vanderbilt, carded rounds of 66-62-71-64 to open up his playing options for the rest of the summer, as he is now allowed to accept an unlimited number of exemptions through the remainder of the season.

"I knew the higher the better, so I was watching the leaderboard coming in, " he said.

The 36-year-old laid the foundations for victory with a run of three straight birdies either side of the turn to take sole possession of the lead as partner Todd struggled to make any birdies over the front nine.

Instead of finishing in a six-way tie for sixth, Hughes leaped into a share of third with his two lengthy birdie efforts, earning an additional $210,900. He made a 7 on the par-4 12th.

Johnson was tied for 79th after the opening round on Thursday, the lowest first-round position by a victor in the tournament's history.

Top-ranked Rory McIlroy tied for 11th at 13-under after a 67.

Todd said he was looking forward to being paired with Johnson for the final round of the tournament, where no fans are in attendance. "Certainly the goal is to win golf tournaments, but keep in mind I've missed a bunch of cuts". I haven't played to the level I've wanted to, and this week I came in and had a lot of great finds. "Like I hit the putt on 17, that was a putt that would just make people erupt, the way it was a pretty dramatic putt".

The 30-year-old will go into self-isolation after returning a positive test in CT.

South African golfer Dylan Frittelli will miss this week's Rocket Mortgage Classic at Detroit Golf Club after testing positive for COVID-19, the PGA Tour said.

Cameron Champ and Denny McCarthy, who hit an opening round of 67, withdrew from the event following positive results, while Graeme McDowell and Brooks Koepka did not participate after their respective caddies returned positive tests.

"We're making several adjustments to our health and safety plan as noted in the memo sent to players this morning, and we will continuously reinforce to all players, caddies, staff members and support personnel on property at PGA Tour events to adhere to social distancing and other safety professionals that further minimize risk".
