Daytime Emmys: "'Jeopardy!" and Alex Trebek win awards

Long-running soap opera The Young And The Restless and popular TV game show Jeopardy were among the big winners at the 2020 Daytime Emmy Awards.

The programs earned the Outstanding Informative and Entertainment talk show awards, respectively.

Rookie talker The Kelly Clarkson Show also put up a strong showing, scoring seven total nods, including for Entertainment Talk Show and Entertainment Talk Show Host. The Young and the Restless followed with 21, while CBS sister series The Bold and the attractive netted 13.

Heather Tom won Outstanding Performance by a Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her role in The Bold and the handsome - which also won Outstanding Writing Team for a Drama Series - while the Supporting Actress prize went to Tamara Braun for General Hospital, which also won the Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series prize.

The People's Court won the award for Outstanding Legal/Courtroom Program, and The Today Show won for Outstanding Morning Show.

The online Emmys event aired on CBS and streamed on CBS All Access thanks to videoconferencing technology in keeping with social distancing practices meant to slow the spread of the coronavirus. And, the virtual awards ceremony was hosted by The Talk co-hosts Marie Osmond, Sharon Osbourne, Eve, Carrie Ann Inaba, and Sheryl Underwood, who announced the winners of each category via livestream on CBS. The last time was in 2011, and the event has been streamed online since 2016. This past March, The Young and The Restless celebrated its 47th year on air on CBS.
