Officers were called to Conlan Road in Put-in-Bay Township on South Bass Island after the Ottawa County Sheriff's dispatch reported a vehicle had driven into the lake.

Once on scene, officers found an orange Chevrolet Camaro that had driven off the embankment and ended in the lake.

Braswell grew up in Toledo, about 50 miles from Put-in-Bay, and played his college football at Youngstown State.

According to WTVG Channel 13, witnesses say the Camaro was traveling at high speed when it drove across a grassy area, went off an embankment and into the lake.

Witnesses also told officers the driver was still in the vehicle trying to drive it while it was in the water. When officers approached Braswell, he allegedly told officers he was stuck and did not know what had happened.

"Police say officers noticed Braswell's speech was slurred and he was unable to explain how he ended up in the water".

Police records show Braswell agreed to a breath test, which showed his BAC exceeded Ohio's legal limit. No one else was in the auto and there are no reports of injuries.

This isn't the kind of route the Arizona Cardinals envisioned undrafted free agent Jermiah Braswell running when they signed him in April.

Fox NFL analyst and former NFL player Mark Schlereth weighs in on the upcoming football season.
