Jump Rope Challenge Lets You Skip for Free on the Switch

Nobody is immune to COVID-19 and the lockdowns it has triggered around the world.

If 2020 wasn't surprising enough, Nintendo just came with a surprise announcement: a free Nintendo Switch game. Titled Jump Rope Challenge, Nintendo describes it as a "simple game" that helps you "take an active break in your day by jumping rope". It's incredibly simple while taking full advantage of the Switch's Joy-Con controllers. That's it! You skip, a little counter goes up, and if you're feeling lonely or competitive, a second player can join in on the same screen as well.

With cute bunny characters, a file size of 78MB, and a $0 price tag, Jump Rope Challenge is a fun, clever distraction that might be just the kick in the trousers you need to start exercising again after being stuck inside for months on end.

A few screenshots shown on Nintendo's website indicate that the game will keep track of how many consecutive days you've jumped rope, and you can set a goal between 100-900 jumps (in increments of 100) to reach for your daily challenge. Well, it's a free game after all and those interested can download the game now directly from the Nintendo eShop. Hopefully by then we'll all be back outside and using real skipping ropes in gyms again.
