Mithun's son Namashi was quoted saying, "Given the current scenario of the COVID-19 pandemic and the untimely demise of our dear colleague Sushant, this year I and my father have chose to not celebrate on birthday and we urge people to stay safe and stay indoors as much as they can". According to a report by India Today, she had not been keeping well since the last couple of days and had stopped eating after she got to know about the actor's suicide.

The world was left grieving after the loss of Bollywood star Sushant Singh Rajput earlier this week. Reportedly, the actor was suffering from depression and was undergoing treatment for the same. The police took his mortal remains to Mumbai's Cooper Hospital for post mortem and coronavirus test.

The postmortem report stated that the cause of death is asphyxia by hanging. Reason behind the suicide is still, however, unknown and an investigation is underway.

Citing media reports claiming that late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput battled clinical depression induced by professional rivalry, Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh on Tuesday said Mumbai Police will probe this angle as well.
