After season two ended in April on a mysterious cliffhanger when a part of Flight 828 was found by a fishing boat, it was a waiting game to see if NBC would renew the series.

According to "Deadline", Manifest was a lock for renewal if NBC and Warner Bros Television worked out a deal to make it happen. It appears that the decision did come down to the wire as the final financial details were ironed out between the network and producing studio.

Through its 13-episode sophomore run, Manifest averaged just under a 0.7 demo rating and almost 4 million viewers (in Live+Same Day numbers), down about 40 percent from Season 1.

The series' official description reads, "After a turbulent but routine flight, the crew and passengers of Flight 828 disembarked to find the world had aged five-and-a-half years and their friends, families and colleagues had given up hope of ever seeing them again". Now, faced with the impossible, the passengers' dreams of a second chance at life evaporate as they encounter the imminent danger surrounding them, both tangible and unexplained. It stars Melissa Roxburgh, Josh Dallas, Athena Karkanis, J. R. Ramirez, and Luna Blaise and is executive produced by Robert Zemeckis. Be that as it may, with Live+7 DVR playback collapsed in, Manifest's numbers swell to a 1.5 rating and 7.7 million watchers, getting a charge out of as it does probably the best-postponed survey of any NBC program.

Buckle up, Manifesters! Season 3 of #Manifest has been cleared for takeoff on @NBC.
