Four more coronaviruses cases in Bureau County

Hancock County has had 44 confirmed and nine probable cases of COVID-19, Hancock Public Health reported Friday. Almost 30% of people over 85 years old who were diagnosed with the disease had died from it, according to the county and the community health center.

Beginning Saturday, the DeKalb County Health Department will not provide COVID-19 daily updates on the weekends pending breaking news.

Cases peaked in early April at almost 2,000 daily new cases.

Bureau County has had 21 confirmed cases, including one death. Yesterday, the department reported 537 new cases and, the day before, 511 new cases. Eight people are reported to have recovered.

The county's total is 1,293.

An inmate at the Pottawattamie County Jail has also tested positive for COVID-19. Kingston and Hinckley are reported to have between six and 10 cases.

Statewide, 498,586 coronavirus tests have been performed, with 424,201 people testing negative, according to the state health department.

Public health officials are in the beginning stages of the investigation and are working to identify individuals who were in contact with the case. The 60115 ZIP code (including DeKalb) had 252 cases reported and 2,579 tests administered.
