Morgan County deputies arriving on the scene put out a fire inside a home.

Morgan County authorities are on the scene of a deadly incident in Valhermoso Springs. While taking care of the fire, police discovered the seven victims, according to WHNT-TV. "Our agenies are very capable but anytime you get to multiple bodies and a total count of seven it is a substancial task". Investigators said a dog at the house was also found dead, the station reported.

Mike Swafford, public information officer of the Morgan County Sheriff's Office, told AL.com that investigators believe the suspect went to the house with the intention of shooting everyone there.

Deputies have responded to the home several times, as recently as last week, Swafford said.

"We don't have a motive at this time".

No suspects are in custody but deputies don't believe there is a further threat in the area.

The Madison County Sheriff's Office and Somerville Police Department were brought in to assist with the crime scene. "We had a triple homicide two weeks ago and I think that's the first anyone can remember in 20-plus years, so to have seven is substantial".

Neighbors called 911 after hearing gunshots, WAAY reported.
