Gusty winds of up to 60 miles per hour could bring down trees and power lines.

Damaging winds, large hail, and locally heavy rainfall will all be possible.

Forecasters also haven't ruled out a small tornado in the state's five northeast counties, but no funnel clouds have been reported anywhere in the Garden State as of late Wednesday afternoon.

Fourteen of the state's 21 counties had been under a severe thunderstorm watch until 3 p.m.

Today into tonight Eagle Country can expect occasional showers and thunderstorms.

An isolated tornado can not be ruled out, the National Weather Service said. Some storms may become severe.

Meteorologist Joe Cioffi said he will be covering the afternoon storm live on YouTube on his Joe & Joe Weather Show.

We're waking up to warm and humid conditions, and it will likely be the hottest day of the year so far. The high temperature could rise to the mid-80s.
