Sony's upcoming headphones previously leaked in March through a filing from Anatel, a Brazilian regulatory agency. However, a Twitter user playing hard pulled apart the Sony Headphones Connect APK and discovered some intriguing features that were smart that the WH-1000XM4 are expected to have. We imagine this would change settings live such as the level of at home you may want it low or off so you can hear what's happening around you, on a train you'd want it dialled fully up. The Sony WH-1000XM3 impressed us with excellent quality and sound cancellation; the Sony WH-1000XM4 is expected to perform the same.

If you thought it couldn't be better, somebody has dug deeper into Sony Headphones Connect APK (Android Application Package) and fount out some fantastic features that the Sony WH-1000XM4 might be going to have. It's a small thing, but unpairing and linking it to another may be a pain. The XM4s will support pairing for two devices at any one time (but no higher quality LDAC audio codec, if you do it), and they will be able to store more Bluetooth pairings.

Another interesting feature the WH-1000XM4 are set to get is the "Smart Talking" function.

According to XDA Developers (which corroborated the leaks with its own teardown), "users will also be able to adjust the voice detection sensitivity from Auto (based on ambient sound), High, or Low in case users find that it activates too often (such as when the person speaking is close by) or too little (such as when you're in a vehicle)". It has been found out that a feature called "DSEE Extreme" might be the upgraded version of the current "DSEE HX" on the WH-1000XM3. This implies background sound will be filtered via the headphones to let the wearer listen to a conversation without removing the headphones. In the same way, the ear can be covered to disable active sound cancellation and allow in background noises.

The successor to the WH-1000XM3 just showcased virtually all of its technical features and images in a recent leak.

Additionally it looks like the new headphones will integrate with the Google Maps API to provide location specific settings. This would be a significant upgrade over the WH-1000XM3, which requires you to register ambient noise locations manually.

While not much is predicted to change from the plan of the Sony WH-1000XM4.

Among them is the addition of multi point connection support, which is certainly something that people have been asking for on the Sony WH-1000XM3.
