The AMBER Alert was cancelled after a passer-by found a body near the Miccosukee Golf & Country Club at Southwest 138th Court and 62nd Street.

Alejandro Ripley, who is also non-verbal, was taken by two unknown black men driving a light blue four-door sedan in near the intersection of SW 158th Avenue and Kendall Drive, according to the Amber Alert.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement said Ripley was last seen wearing a Captain America T-shirt, black shorts and black Crocs but officials have not confirmed how he died or where his body was found. His mother, Patricia Ripley, 47, is being held in connection with the death.

According to the department's press release, after Ripley's vehicle veered onto the side street, near a Home Depot, the other auto blocked the mother and son in, and a male passenger ambushed the auto demanding drugs.

But after hours of questioning and confronted with surveillance footage of the married mother of two pushing the child into the canal, Ripley came clean, according to the Miami Herald.

She continued giving conflicting statements.

According to police, Patricia admitted that she drove to the location where the canal was near and she then led her son to the canal where he drowned. Moreover, witnesses also placed her at the scene.

She reportedly told police during her confession that "he is going to be in a better place".

As of 1 p.m. Thursday, Georgia reported 407,731 tests, but the state website now includes a disclaimer that antibody tests are included in the count.

A source familiar with the investigation said a security camera at a Home Depot near where the alleged kidnapping occurred showed Ripley sitting in her vehicle alone - without Alejandro - for 20 minutes before she called police at 8:47 p.m. on Thursday.

Many questions remain, however, no further details of the case were immediately available. The boy attended the center before the coronavirus shutdown.
