By not including headphones with the iPhone 12, buyers will have to supply their own, which could mean also purchasing a pair of Apple's AirPod or AirPod Pro headphones, now priced at $159 (£159, AU$249) and $249 (£249, AU$399), respectively.

Commentators are calling it a trend away from complimentary accessories on Apple's part, prompting earbuds sales and reducing tech waste. Apple's wired EarPod headphones have accompanied new iPhones since the iPhone 5 release in 2012 and its iconic white, wired earbuds were in the box with every model before that, including the first iPhone. Now, a new report by Digitimes suggests that Apple AirPods Studio have gone into production, hinting that a launch may happen in the next few months.

The production of iPhone 12 panels will begin 6 weeks late, so it won't start until the end of July, rather than early June, which should imply a delay in iPhone 12 launch from September to October. However it still leaves new iPhone users without, what has become, a staple with new devices - particularly when they don't work with a more universal option: the 3.5mm jack.

Looks like the company has found the way and it is by removing the wired earpods from the iPhone 12 series.

As noted by 9to5Mac, suppliers in China have been significantly affected by lockdowns created by the COVID-19 outbreak.

"We do not assume that this downturn results in Apple losing users from its installed base" a Goldman Sachs analysts said in a note. They're easy to set up on an iOS device, switch seamlessly between multiple Apple devices and have conveniences like always-available "Hey Siri" and automatic pausing when you remove a bud.

It's uncertain what percent of AirPods Pro are produced in Vietnam or if Apple strategies to make even more items in the nation.
