According to Lamptey, who had a stint in the Premier League with Aston Villa, the 26-year-old should weigh his options well before leaving the Wanda Metropolitano.

The Ghana global produced a fine performance against Liverpool before sport was halted by the coronavirus pandemic, and he wants to move to England when the transfer window does eventually open. Aston Villa was a wrong move because their style of play was not going to suit me. "He can decide to leave Atletico and join other Spanish clubs but not either England or Italy". After time in the Rojiblancos' youth set-up, he spent time on loan at Real Mallorca and Almeria before making his senior breakthrough at his parent club in 2015-2016.

Atlético Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey is believed to have made no secret of his desire to join Arsenal this summer, and the Gunners could use striker Alexandre Lacazette as part of their bid to sign him.

Speaking on the Ghana-based radio station Tru FM, Jacob Partey said: "I called my son after hearing the rumours and he told me that the rumours are true". It all depends on the offer Atletico are demanding. Even though he has had a poor season, Lacazette was starting to go on form before the Premier League got suspended and he will definitely be hoping that football returns so that he could prove to Arsenal's new boss Mikel Arteta that he is good enough to lead the line.

He has been heavily linked with a move to several European heavyweights including Inter Milan, PSG, Bayern Munich, Manchester United and Arsenal ahead of the forthcoming transfer window. "What they are discussing now is how Atletico will release him".
