"We have also come across some conversations on Snapchat". During the probe, police have found the involvement of male students of four South Delhi schools and further investigation is under way.

The group, "Bois Locker Room", is believed to comprise young schoolboys in the capital, Delhi.

How did the group become public? The screenshot, as attached by a Twitter user shows a boy convincing the others to gang rape a girl.

She was one of the first to expose the group.

He added that there appeared to be a mix of images from this group and some similar groups that exist on other social media platforms like Snapchat. Reportedly, the members of the group are getting threats and abuses online.

"I tried to investigate it properly but no-one was coming forward to file a complaint". "We are a group of seven girls whose pictures were shared on the group. They had deleted their Instagram accounts but through the screenshots and some tools, I was able to trace them", he said.

The police have identified the teenagers and have taken them into custody on 5th May.

As the outrage gained traction, the Delhi Commission for Women swung into action.

In the notice to Delhi Police, the panel sought a copy of the FIR, information on whether any accused have been identified and a detailed action-taken report on the matter by May 8.

The Delhi Commission for Women on Monday also took cognisance of the matter and issued notices to the police as well as Instagram.

Instagram has not commented on the issue so far. "This is a very serious matter in which an online platform is being openly used for illegal activities". After the police registered the case, many students in the group have gone underground.

Twitter backlash said the attitude to women had to change. "All boys in this group must be arrested, a strong message needs to be sent", Maliwal tweeted in Hindi. The commission also asked Instagram to share important information such as user IDs and locations of each group member, and its administrators.

"The aim is not to damage them". They allegedly used to chat about planning gang rapes and indulged in porn talk.
