Similar to the Netflix docuseries, the new "Tiger King" series will shine the spotlight on how Joe Schreibvogel ultimately became Joe Exotic, the owner of the Oklahoma-based Greater Wynnewood Exotic Animal Park. This will mark Nicolas' first-ever television role. Just when you (I) thought the Tiger King news had all but dried up, this happens.

The series will be taken to market in the coming days, meaning it's not clear where or when it will air yet. Cage, meanwhile, will also serve as executive producer.

Nicolas Cage has been roped in to play the role of Tiger King's Joe Exotic and fans think it is a brilliant choice.

Dan Lagana, who previously worked as the showrunner on the Netflix series "American Vandal", will be the show's writer, showrunner, and executive producer, according to Variety.

It will be made by CBS studios along with Imagine Entertainment and soon be shopped around to various networks and streaming platforms.

"Tiger King" has spawned another scripted TV series that was announced earlier this year.

This is a very exciting move for Cage, who really has not been seen in a high-profile release since Kick-Ass, nonetheless as a regular on a television series. The renowned actor has starred in such films as Leaving Las Vegas, for which he won an Oscar, Con Air, National Treasure, Gone in 60 Seconds, and more recently Snowden - a film about the United States whistleblower.

Schreibvogel is now in prison for his role in an attempted murder-for-hire plot against rival Carol Baskin, the CEO of Big Cat Rescue. Though Tiger King was a ratings smash, it was far from the first exploration of Joe Exotic.
