"He could win Grand Slams and fight the top positions of the ranking, but there is a reason why he is where he is [at No. 72]", Nadal had said.

That interaction peaked at 55,000 viewers as fans swarmed to see two legends of the game.

During his period when tennis players are extremely prolific on Social Media.

"Rafa, let's do Instagram Live together", he commented.

Rafael Nadal immediately backed the Swiss star and Murray, another supporter of the idea, is encouraged by the discussion, though he insists female players must also be heard. Last year, the 19-time Grand Slam victor accused the Australian of "lacking respect" after Kyrgios won a stormy encounter in Mexico.

"He's my polar opposite, like literally my polar opposite", Kyrgios said. Kyrgios, who had spent the match complaining about injury, arguing with the crowd, and serving underhand, hit back by suggesting Nadal was a sore loser, calling him "super salty".

"And I'm like, "What are you talking about?" That's the way I play.

The duo have played out some feisty battles since those comments - none more so than their Wimbledon clash previous year where Kyrgiods intentionally lashed a ferocious forehand at Nadal's chest.

The relationship between them became rather tense especially after Kyrgios beat him in Acapulco last when the Australian saved 3 consecutive match points.

"I don't know [if I like him]", Nadal said.

Before their encounter at Wimbledon previous year, Nadal had tried to defuse the situation during a press conference where he said, "I'm too old for all this stuff now".

"It's clear, of course, that when he does stuff that in my opinion is not good, I don't like".
