Gad revealed that original cast members Josh Brolin, Corey Feldman, Kerri Green, Ke Huy Quan, Martha Plimpton and Jeff Cohen will be included in the virtual special along with "many special surprises". The Frozen II actor and longtime fan of the '80s classic is hosting a long-awaited The Goonies reunion, with the original cast members, including Sean Astin, Josh Brolin, and Corey Feldman, joining for a special lockdown reunion.

Broadcasting the live chat via his social media channels, Gad will be speaking to Lord of the Rings star Sean Astin - aka Mikey - who was on hand to deliver the "Troy's Bucket" speech to ramp up the hype.

In February, it was announced that Fox approved a pilot order for a now untitled drama about students making shot-for-shot remake of the 1985 film, which celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2015. The series will feature a group of aspiring young filmmakers as they attempt to recreate The Goonies shot-by-shot. The subject was recently addressed by executive producer/legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg, and the explanation is that nobody has been able to come up with an idea for a sequel good enough to go the distance and get to the production stage.

Hey you guys! almost four decades after The Goonies changed the face of pop culture forever, the grown-up cast and crew of the iconic '80s film reunited for a virtual gathering hosted by Frozen's Josh Gad.

Since the film's debut, it has stood the test of time and has become a pop culture staple among all ages.

It made a sturdy $124 million from its $19 million budget, and was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress in 2017. This coming June, the film will be celebrating its 35th anniversary.
