Cadillac CT4-V, CT5-V Blackwing Officially Coming With Manual Gearbox

We're told the fourth-gen V-Series cars will get the Blackwing moniker - specifically the CT4-V and CT5-V - further enhancing Caddy's "ultimate performance driving experiences".

Something else you shouldn't expect, speaking of -Vs, is any sort of performance variant of the brand's bottom-rung SUVs: sources tell Cadillac Society that an XT4-V is a no-go, and not even a V6 option in the regular truck, either.

They are created to "build on the brand's respected legacy of ultimate performance driving experiences and elevate them even further", claims Cadillac.

Said Blackwings will get uprated chassis tech, vehicle control tech and engines.

Cadillac Executive Chief Engineer Brandon Vivian, who recently spoke about his wish to find a home for the aforementioned twin-turbo V-8, said "The Blackwing name has come to represent the very best of Cadillac performance engineering, craftsmanship and technology", said Brandon Vivian, executive chief engineer, Cadillac.

Fast forward to today and Car & Driver is reporting the upcoming model will be equipped with an upgraded version of the supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine that was used in the CTS-V.

Most interestingly, however, both models will be available with a six-speed manual gearbox, unlike nearly every rival. And, proving that the universe doesn't hate us entirely, each will be offered with a manual gearbox, "a feature most luxury brands no longer offer but continues to be a strong desire for many performance driving enthusiasts".

As ever, though, there's bad news for those in the United Kingdom, as Cadillac still has no firm plan in place to officially enter the market.
