Apple puts the iPad Pro Magic Keyboard up for sale early

Apple introduced the new iPad Pro last month along with a new Magic Keyboard for the device. Back then, the incredibly versatile (and super-expensive) typing accessory was scheduled for a vague (and distant) commercial debut sometime in May, but surprise, surprise, the "floating" keyboard is available to order today, with shipments slated to kick off "next week". The Magic Keyboard sized for 11-inch iPad Pro costs $299 / £299 / AU$499, while the version for the 12.9-inch iPad Pro costs $349 / £349 / AU$589.

The click-anywhere trackpad on the Magic Keyboard complements the touch-first design of iPad for easy navigation and precise adjustments, adding even more versatility and productivity to the iPad Pro experience.

For those who are unaware, the new Magic Keyboard is not cheap at all. That's only $50 less than the new iPhone SE, by the way. It also folds over the display the same way Apple's Smart Folio keyboard does.

The keyboard attaches to the iPad magnetically and allows you to angle it up to 130 degrees.

Logitech's keyboard cases combine a full-size backlit keyboard with a trackpad that supports multi-touch gestures and scrolling, much like Apple's own Magic Keyboard. The scissor switch mechanism has 1mm of key travel under each key. With iPadOS now having built-in support for trackpads, this new trackpad will come in handy on the Magic Keyboard.
