A new short film from The Simpsons universe is coming to Disney Plus on Friday April 10.

The Simpsons has a playdate with Disney+. Now the animated short film, titled Playdate with Destiny, is making its streaming debut on Disney+ tomorrow.

The short film was originally shown in movie theaters before "Onward", the animated feature released by Disney and Pixar.

"Maggie Simpson in 'The Longest Daycare, '" an Academy Award nominated film, is also set to stream on Disney Plus later this month.

However, when she faces playground peril she gets saved by a heroic young baby, who takes her away from danger and "steals her heart".

Playdate with Destiny, which stars Maggie Simpson in an animation-led, dialogue-free story, originally served as an introduction to Pixar's Onward back when you could watch movies in the theater.

The Simpsons creator Matt Groening shared a special handwritten note on social media revealing the news with fans around the world (see below).

The pair enjoy a "blissful first playdate", and Maggie can't wait to see her new baby beau the next day - but things don't go as planned. In the short, Maggie hopes to build her budding comradeship with a new friend, her often lazy and annoyed father Homer may intrude on her plans.

As well as The Simpsons Movie, 30 seasons of the animated classic are also available to stream on the service.

Playdate With Destiny arrives on Disney+ on April 10, 2020. The head of the Simpson family, Homer, is not a typical family man. The family includes loving, blue-haired matriarch Marge, troublemaking son Bart, overachieving daughter Lisa and baby Maggie.
