SRK, Priyanka to join global stars in saluting frontline medical professionals

The two will be representing India at the global fundraising event, with Shah Rukh Khan probably being chosen because of him being the most recognisable star in Bollywood, and Priyanka for her worldwide stature.

Coronavirus spread has bought the whole world to a standstill and every morning the cases are only increasing.

Gaga, who said she helped curate the celebrity lineup, called in to World Health Organization's coronavirus briefing on Monday to unveil the project, a joint effort with advocacy group Global Citizen. Now, countries have gone into lockdown including India, as the virus doesn't have a cure yet, and the best bet one has against it is to stay home and practice social distancing.

Global Citizen movement and the World Health Organization (WHO) are joining forces for the biggest digital event around the world, One World: Together at Home, which will be getting streamed on April 18, 2020.

The virtual concert will be co-hosted by comedians Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, and Stephen Colbert.

An E Times report acknowledged that WHO will dwell stream an occasion of performances by numerous stars from world wide like John Legend, Elton John, Lady Gaga David Beckham, Idris Elba.

Indian stars Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra Jonas will join artists from around the world for a global television and streaming special curated by pop star Lady Gaga to support and applaud frontline health care workers in their battle against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Along with Priyanka, Shah Rukh Khan will also be presenting the event, which will be broadcast on April 18.

The special program will also be a multi-hour digital broadcast streaming online on multiple global platforms including Alibaba, Amazon Prime Video, Apple, Facebook and Instagram. This one night special event, hosted by @jimmyfallon, @jimmykimmel, and @stephenathome, will feature performances with @ladygaga, @coldplay, @eltonjohn, @johnlegend, @lizzobeeating, @billieeilish, #StevieWonder and so many more. Together we can beat this pandemic. "We'll be honoring healthcare and front line essential communities".
