Donald Trump says USA stockpiling anti-malarial drug for potential coronavirus use

As coronavirus restrictions tighten around the country, with the majority of governors opting to issue statewide stay-at-home orders, the president was asked how 14-year-old Barron is handing life in isolation.

In New York State, Governor Andrew Cuomo said that a decline in coronavirus-related deaths has occurred in the state, which could mean that the apex is nearly here or it may be just "a blip". During Sunday's White House briefing Trump interjected when journalists were asking his advisor Anthony Fauci, who has said he will be guided by scientific evidence about the efficacy of the drug (and not on a hunch or feeling like with Trump). "He's in his room".

Press chides president for saying masks voluntary.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo: "If we are plateauing, we are plateauing at a very high level, and there's tremendous stress on the healthcare system".

Trump will also be spending his time in the foreseeable future at home in Washington, D.C. I'd love to do that, but we have people dying today.

"I'll be in the White House", he added, as he stressed the importance of making sure he remains healthy. Trump has now been tested twice for the coronavirus and both times tested negative.

The president said that some 1.6 million people in the country have been tested for COVID-19 and received results. I think history will judge who's right on this debate.

He was first tested in March. The White House has warned that the US could see between 100,000 and 200,000 deaths due to the novel coronavirus.

But officials stressed last week that with social distancing and other counter-measures, they hoped to ensure a lower death toll.

".India is giving serious consideration to releasing the hold it put on a United States order for hydroxychloroquine", Trump subsequently announced at the White House Coronavirus task force briefing.

At the same briefing, U.S. Vice President Mike Pence said hydroxychloroquine will be used in a trial covering 3,000 patients at a hospital in Detroit, Michigan, and the results will be tracked in a formal study.
