CDC recommends everyone wear face masks in public

The debate surrounding large-scale community facemask recommendations has been heating up in recent days and for many, there was a need to feel as if we were doing something.

Shortly after, first lady Melania Trump tweeted that citizens should take mask-wearing seriously.

President Donald Trump stated on Friday that the Center for Disease Control recommended to wear the non-medical cloth masks. Save those for the health care providers.

Some Chinese experts have even suggested that the U.S. and Europe are struggling to cope with the outbreak because they are culturally averse to wearing face masks in public, as opposed to many parts of East Asia where they are the norm.

The CDC's recommendation inpart states the following.

Cloth masks (including homemade masks) are recommended for use by the public; surgical masks and N95 masks are reserved for use by healthcare workers; the wearing of masks is highly recommended in areas of high foot traffic (eg supermarkets, pharmacies, hardware stores, banks).

& # 39; Many people have asymptomatic or pre-symptomatic infections. He added that incorrect use of face masks may actually encourage the spread of the virus.

Some cities have gone a step further and made wearing masks a requirement.

These coverings don't fit the face tightly, so aerosolized virus and larger droplets can be sucked in through the gaps between the face and the mask when we take a breath.
