The 38-year-old's decision to make a contribution comes after Harbhajan Singh had asked his fans to make donations to former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi's foundation. However, the two Indian stars drew some sharp criticism for supporting former Pakistan allrounder Shahid Afridi's charity work on twitter from some quarters. Yuvraj further informed everyone, in the video message he had posted on Twitter, that his foundation "YouWeCan" has collected around Rs 1.5 crore and will be supporting the needy in these testing times.

Afridi has been helping those suffering from the Covid-19 pandemic in Pakistan via the Shahid Afridi Foundation and their families.

Yuvraj Singh, former India cricketer, took to Instagram on Wednesday to clear his views on his earlier tweet that angered some fans on Twitter.

Afridi donated disinfectant soap, material and food to the needy. The hashtag #ShameOnYuvi started trending on Twitter on Tuesday evening which has prompted the World Cup victor to come out and issue a fresh statement surrounding the row.

Another wrote: "In the times when exports have been banned, when resources are not enough for our own country people like @YUVSTRONG12 & @harbhajan_singh are asking us to donate to @SAfridiOfficial?".

Even Harbhajan Singh followed Yuvraj Singh's footsteps and voiced his support for the former Pakistan global. BJP MLA from east Ghatkopar, Mumbai, Ram Kadam took it upon himself to remind Yuvraj and Harbhajan of Afridi's nationality and his political stand at a time when the world is facing an enemy which is unlikely to show any political colours.
