After the veteran special teams ace re-signed with New England this offseason, he used his first public opportunity to emphasize that the Patriots will go on without Brady - and their sights aren't lowered. "If we don't, you shouldn't even step foot in the building, because we're already going to be beat".

According to the Bucs official team site, there was no transaction between Brady and Godwin for the number. "I think part of that new identity is going to built on things that we've always stood for and will continue to stand for as long as this organization is led by the people that it's led by".

And while Godwin is changing numbers and Brady is keeping his, it remains to be seen what those numbers will look like on the actual uniform.

But we might be mistaking the source of such an attitude and identity.

As for Gostkowski, formerly the second-longest tenured player after Brady, Slater was effusive in his praise. I think he's a really, really talented quarterback. Instead, he wants to reinforce the values of the "Patriot Way" that head coach Bill Belichick has instilled over the past 20 years.

Brady signed a two-year, $50 million guaranteed deal with Tampa.

"Certainly there is going to be an evolution that occurs within our locker room, an evolution that occurs within our offense".

"[Stidham] came in and worked hard and got better and better as the year went on".

Of course, Brady was essential to that consistency as the one leader the Patriots could count on every year. He brings a lot of positive energy.

Add that up, and you get Brady bolting Foxborough for the Buccaneers.
