Florida Gas Prices Drop. And So Does The Demand

Right now, the average price for a gallon of gas nationwide is $2, a 13-cent drop from last week.

The goal behind the low prices?

MI gas prices are as low as they've been in almost 1500 days.

Gas prices in the city are about 70.4 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and $1.12 per gallon lower than a year ago.

Gas prices across the country and in Western New York are continuing to drop due to the coronavirus pandemic. Local prices at the end of March represent a 54-cent decline from the beginning of the month, according to AAA.

New data from the Energy Information Administration reveals that with many Americans staying at home and practicing social distancing, gas demand dropped dramatically - from 9.7 million b/d to 8.8 million b/d - last week.

Gas prices are hitting historic lows, as the national average price falls below two dollars per gallon for the first time in over four years.

Prices in the Pittsburgh area fell by 10.2 cents per gallon over the past week, to an average of $2.27, according to GasBuddy's survey of 731 stations.

The Gas USA station at West 117th Street and Bellaire Road, at the Cleveland-Linndale border, had raised prices to 99.9 cents per gallon for the Tuesday morning commute, said Malika Dayani, a cook who was tending Gas USA's food counter on Tuesday morning. If wholesale prices hold at current levels, the state average could eventually sink below $1.60 per gallon. The least expensive gas price averages are in Flint ($1.69), Grand Rapids ($1.69) and Benton Harbor ($1.70).

Gas prices are sinking "like a rock".
