While the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are still basking in the glow of the Tom Brady signing, easily the biggest free agent ever to come to Tampa, there's a stark reality they need to accept, which is that Brady will be 43 years old when the 2020 season starts, and several other big-name players have a chance to hit free agency in 2021.

The New England Patriots made a critical error by failing to re-sign their quarterback Tom Brady, according to fellow National Football League legend Joe Montana.

Tom Brady is looking to capitalize on the slogan used by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a recent video that highlighted the legendary National Football League quarterback.

"I was just like everybody else: I was shocked a little bit, but I felt like I could see the writing on the wall with just how things went and just how things played out", he said during an interview on 98.5 The Sports Hub, via NESN.

Montana, 63, dealt with a similar change late in his National Football League career when the 49ers traded him to the Kansas City Chiefs. He led the Chiefs to two playoff berths in his final two seasons in the league. I still don't understand how New England let him out.

"I think when you look at the whole situation, you try to figure out how you want to get away from things that are there", Montana said. The Bucs should have a contingency plan in place should they lose any of those guys, but their recent signings have made it clear their focus is on the here and now. "Obviously Tom was a very important part on their success over the years, but I think they have kind of a way and they have a system that Belichick has implemented there that I think will continue to find ways to have success. I don't understand that". He got what he wanted, a $50 million contract guaranteed.
