'I Don't Believe You Need 30K Ventilators'

"If they don't treat you right, I don't call", Trump said, shortly after telling reporters: "I want them to be appreciative". "And now all of a sudden they're saying, 'Can we order 30,000 ventilators?'"

Not only that, but Trump claimed he "doesn't believe" that NY actually needs the life-saving medical equipment, and that he thinks numbers of coronavirus cases are somehow exaggerated, even though all facts and logic show we don't have any kind of handle on how many people are sick in the USA due to a widespread lack of testing. New York has become America's epicenter with almost half of all COVID-19 cases, especially straining the hospital system in New York City.

"When the president says the state of NY doesn't need 30,000 ventilators, with all due respect to him, he's not looking at the facts of this astronomical growth of this crisis", de Blasio said on ABC's "Good Morning America". "I need partnership out of the federal government".

"It's very distressing", the Democratic governor told radio station WWJ.

'The point is: "Well they're in a stockpile, you must not need them" is just ignorant. Cuomo has been critical of the president for failing to use the Defense Protection Act to procure ventilators. The president reportedly resisted using the act after heavy corporate lobbying.

President Donald Trump, however, has questioned if NY really needs that many ventilators to battle the coronavirus.

The New York Times reports the White House canceled an agreement with General Motors and Ventec Life Systems to produce up to 80,000 desperately needed ventilators, over concerns about the project's $1 billion price tag - or about 0.05% of the cost of the coronavirus relief bill.

Patients in other situations are typically on ventilators for three to four days, Gov. Cuomo said, while COVID-19 patients are on them anywhere from 11 to 21 days.

"FEMA says, 'we're sending 400 ventilators.' Really?"

Trump's interview came after a testy call with all 50 state governors. So we have to get people lined up. "We have to open up our country".

He said the USA has seen a significant increase in testing, which is "good news". "We need a Tom Brady".

Trump criticized Inslee for "complaining" to Hannity.

The governor previewed the "experimental" splitting strategy on Tuesday, saying, "We have no alternative". He should be doing more. According to the most recent figures, there are at least 85,000 confirmed cases in the United States.

"We need a national mobilization of the industrial base in this country". That's how we won WWII.

"We hope we get a respite as we get into April, May and June. Washingtonians' lives depend on it".

Make no mistake: Many Americans are going to die because of Trump. "I don't know if she knows what's going on, but all she does is sit there and blame the federal government".

"We have ventilators on all of our anesthesia machines in every single operating room and ambulatory care center in the nation", she told CNN. "That's the state of Washington". Didn't exactly do well. "You're missing the magnitude of the problem, and the problem is defined by the magnitude".

Today Surgeon General Jerome Adams, MD, told CBS This Morning, that next week will be worse for emerging COVID-19 hot spots, including Detroit, Chicago, and New Orleans.

Whitmer also responded to Trump's attacks on Twitter.

"Hi, my name is Gretchen Whitmer, and that governor is me", she wrote.

"I've asked repeatedly and respectfully for help". She added, "You said you stand with MI - prove it".
