The Betty Broderick Story follows Betty (Peet) and the wild downward spiral of her marriage to Dan (Slater) in what Oprah Winfrey deemed one of "America's messiest divorces" before it ended in double homicide (via Deadline). Amanda Peet (A Lot Like Love) stars as the titular character, Betty Broderick, described by the series as "the flawless Southern California blonde wife and mother".

The trailer for the new season, which dropped Wednesday from USA Network, sees the actors in their best Eighties period fashions as they portray the warring couple.

"I wanted a husband and a family; Dan needed a wife that could wait on him", Peet as Betty says as she puts dinner on the table and adjusts Dan's pocket square in the exclusive trailer above. And in 1992, Meredith Baxter starred in A Woman Scorned: The Betty Broderick Story, with Stephen Collins playing Dan. Baxter was nominated for an Emmy for her performance.

Dan and Betty Broderick got together in the 1960s, and went on to marry in 1969.

Then, in November 1989, Betty showed up at Dan's home, where he was living with his new wife Linda.

"I was married for 16 years".

From their, things go from bad to worse, as Peet is seen in a straitjacket, being forced into the back of a auto. Her husband Dan had both a law degree from Harvard and an M.D. from Cornell University. He had his wife committed to a psych ward and "robbed" her children through a court order, while Betty crashed her vehicle into his home and spray painted his walls. 'I'm not the insane one - he is'. "He is." Soon she's violently lashing out, spray-painting their home, ramming her auto into their front door... and finally carrying a loaded pistol.

Dirty John: The Betty Broderick Story is set to air on USA Network in June, although no exact release date has been set yet. In the meantime, Dirty John season 1 - which tells the story of Debra Newell and John Meehan - is available to stream on Netflix now.
