The Vin Diesel vehicle hit theaters on March 13 in the midst of the lowest box office weekend since 1998 due to coronavirus concerns, bringing in only $24.6 million globally on a $45 million production budget.

Rather than wait for the traditional theater-to-video window, Sony is following the lead of other studios and moving newly-released films to digital retailers.

After all, Bloodshot is much from the primary movie being given a digital launch months forward of that initially deliberate, with the likes of Birds of Prey, The Hunt, Onward and The Invisible Man all being made out there on-line a matter of weeks after their cinematic debut.

"Bloodshot" is already available on Amazon, VUDU and iTunes. With an army of nanotechnology in his veins he's an unstoppable force - the strongest warrior the corporation has ever created - and able to heal instantly. But in controlling his body, the company has sway over his mind and memories, too.

It was intended that Bloodshot It would be the first entry in a Valiant Cinematic Universe, with Valiant being the comic book publisher operating a vast and varied stable of odd heroes and villains, including this one. Now Ray doesn't know what's real and what's not ... but he's determined to find out. Academy Award-nominated writer Eric Heisserer (Arrival, The Thing) has penned the script for the film, as well as another of the Sony/Valiant features, Harbinger.

The film also stars Eiza Gonzalez (Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, Baby Driver), Sam Heughan (Outlander), Lamorne Morris (New Girl), Toby Kebbell (Kong: Skull Island), Talulah Riley (Westworld), and Guy Pearce (The Hurt Locker).

Directed by first feature assistant Dave Wilson, "Bloodshot" tells the story of Ray Garrison (Diesel), a soldier who dies in combat, only to be revived with superhuman abilities.
