South Korea reports 76 new coronavirus cases, total 9037

The coronavirus task force says the USA has done more testing in 8 days than South Korea has done in 8 weeks; reaction and analysis from Fox News medical contributor Dr. Janette Nesheiwat.

The office of South Korean President Moon Jae-in earlier said Trump during a telephone conversation between the leaders asked whether South Korea could send medical equipment and supplies to help the United States cope with its outbreaks. The government has said it has exported some kits to the United Arab Emirates and is in talks with other nations.

Starting Sunday, all people traveling to South Korea from Europe are required to take COVID-19 tests and undergo a two-week quarantine regardless of symptoms.

"President Trump of the United States... made a request to us for the urgent provision of quarantine items such as diagnostic kits", Moon said while visiting a test developer in Seoul.

South Korea on Monday (March 23) reported its lowest number of new coronavirus cases since the peak so far on Feb 29, with the extended downward trend in daily infections boosting hopes that Asia's largest outbreak outside China may be abating.

"We have now secured enough volume and stocks of the test kits for domestic use, but I have to check further on the availability for the use of exports", Jeong told reporters. Jeong also said South Korea has received requests from around 10 countries for kits and other support but declined to identify the countries.
