A shelter-in-place order for San Antonio and Bexar County goes into effect Tuesday a minute before midnight. It is clear to me that we may not be achieving the level of compliance that is needed that's why I said before I remain flexible in my statewide standard.

The Governor said that Texas will continue to be very aggressive in aggregating as much personal protection equipment, medical supplies and testing capacity as we possibly can.

He said that the amount of positive coronavirus cases now exceeds 700. "We are one of the most vulnerable states and it is past time for state leadership to take serious steps to curb the spread of COVID-19".

"We are making some temporary modifications to allow businesses to act quickly and minimize their impacts on disease transmission", the LCB said in Tuesday's announcement. There may be some who are retired, there may be some who are still in nursing school who qualify under my executive order, there may be some who are from another state who can come into the state of Texas and provide your services here.

"The state of Texas is competing with other states for supplies and competing with the federal government for supplies".

"Although the number of cases is still low, cases are expected to increase", the department warned.

Since COVID-19 was declared as a pandemic stocks have fallen by more than 20%.

"Texas is all-in on our response to COVID-19 and we need Washington's financial assistance as provided for under the law to support our efforts to limit the spread of this virus", said Governor Abbott.

"We hope we don't have to do that, but we are very happy to have that option, especially if we have families where maybe we have a husband and a wife, where we could put that together", said Wilson N. Jones Regional Medical Center Chief Clinical Officer Trish Wood.
