"The objective of the work to be completed by teachers on the pupil-free days is to be ready for that eventuality to ensure continuity of learning for students", he said.

Amphi We are working on assessing which of our families have Internet access and devices in their homes.

While she expected the closures to take place, former Rockhampton Girls Grammar School principal Christine Hills said the bigger question was "when would they reopen?" More than 2,000 Chromebooks were purchased so that students in grades 6-12 would each have their own to take home each night for lessons, and they have the ability through Schoology to communicate with their teacher. Some of our teachers were reading books on Facebook last Friday.

About 87% of Australians can access the internet at home.

"This morning, I met with both my parents and students and together we navigated the new Continued Learning website", Beard said.

"We are constantly emailing and having phone conferences", Platt said.

Hofreuter said she is still hosting regular coffee with parents sessions to discuss school issues, only now she is doing them online.

We have been conducting an ongoing research project, Growing Up Digital Australia, to understand how the widespread use of media and digital technologies is impacting the well-being, health and learning of Australian children.

"Teachers are excited", stated WPSD#1 Assistant Superintendent Lori Olson.

Teachers from Campbell River's School District 72 will be getting in touch with families this week.

His experience teaching in Alaska gave him the urgency and framework to ensure school could be taught online, he says. Additionally, most of the lessons are asynchronous so that students can do them whenever they can, and families are able to define a timeframe that works for the family's situation.

"We will work in conjunction with whatever meal plan becomes available, and provide them at sites where meals are going out", Shay said. "We have a lot of parents bringing their kids to pick up lunch so they can wave out the window". She said it is part of her duty to reach out to her students at this time, and she has attempted to reach students and their parents online.

"We want every child to have the very best services we can provide during this unprecedented event", Hull said. This week we'll be working with teachers to further develop this "Learn From Home" platform.

Teachers are meeting remotely via Google Video Hangouts to continue their grade level or subject area Professional Learning Communities (PLC) for collaboration and instructional support.

Dr. Hull said her district has not decided how the online work will count for a student's overall grade but added that it could be important.

"It makes it hard for us to keep track of students", Hunter-Weekly said. "We don't know when we will be going back".
