Huawei Mate 40 series, which is believed to be the company's upcoming flagship lineup of phones, might come with a round trim around the rear cameras that doubles as a touch display.

According to German publication WinFuture, both the Huawei P40 and P40 Pro devices will come with 5G connectivity due to their Kirin 990 5G chipset, and prices that start at 799 and 999 Euros. The P40 Pro is expected to come with a Penta-camera setup made up of five lenses. Today, the likely camera specs of the Huawei P40 Pro has appeared online.

Flip the phone over and you'll apparently find a 50MP f/1.9 main camera with optical image stabilization, along with something called "Octa Phase Detection" to aid autofocus, and an "XD Fusion Engine" to improve image quality and speed up image processing.

As for the standard Huawei P40, that supposedly has a flat 6.1-inch 1080 x 2340 OLED screen, 8GB of RAM, a Kirin 990 chipset, and 5G as standard in Europe. The main lens is said to be a Sony IMX700 sensor which supports up to 5x optical zoom. At the rear, the Huawei P40 will have a triple-camera array featuring a 50MP primary sensor, 16MP ultra-wide, and an 8MP telephoto lens with OIS. More internals include 8GB RAM and 128/256GB storage, expandable with Huawei's NanoMemory, a 4,200mAh battery, and a graphene cooling system for the Kirin 990 chip. It will also feature an in-display fingerprint sensor, NFC, and IP53 splash resistance.

All told, there will be five different models of smartphone released by Huawei - P40, P40 Pro, P40 Pro Plus, P40 Lite and P40 Lite E. Across this range of five handsets, it seems we'll see six colour options too - silver, gray, orange (or gold), black, blue and aurora.

Accompanying images also show the designs of the phones and line up with what we've seen before.
