Half-Life Alyx s now available to purchase from Steam and is available on the PC supporting Windows virtual reality headsets such as the Valve Index, HTC Vive and Oculus ranges as well as Windows Mixed Reality headsets.

An email from the company also tells the media that the new device will be a "no-compromise VR headset".

Since Valve is working with HP on this new headset, it may be compatible with the Valve Index Controllers, which Alyx uses to let players interact with the environment in more subtle, intricate ways. So we're not sure what this specific Microsoft / Valve / HP collaboration entails.

With VR really starting to gain traction, we hope that with more headsets on the market this will lead to greater competition between brands.

Designed in collaboration with both Valve and Microsoft, this headset will hook into both of their VR systems natively.

The device's page on HP's website gives some more information with its description.

The title now runs on Valve and HTC's next-gen Index headset, its last-gen HTC Vive, and offerings from competitors.

HP has announced that they will be releasing a refresh to their Reverb VR headset.

Until more is known, speculation will remain whether this new iteration of the Reverb headset will be more consumer-focused than the original as well as if it will have to ability to compete with Oculus and its Rift and Quest headsets. Or, if you'd rather see the game for yourself, RPS Vid Bud Matthew played the first two hours of it yesterday which you can view below, with additional commentary from yours truly.
