The Philadelphia Eagles made a splash with the acquisition of former Detroit Lions cornerback Darius Slay.

Nickell Robey-Coleman is signing a one-year contract with the Eagles, ESPN insiders Jordan Schultz and Josina Anderson first reported Wednesday afternoon.

"Nickell Robey-Coleman is a guy that we've had our eyes on for a long time", Howie Roseman said in an exclusive one-on-one interview that will be available to watch Thursday morning. The Eagles let safety Malcolm Jenkins walk in free agency and brought back safety Rodney McLeod and defensive back Jalen Mills, who is expected to have a hybrid role.

Robey-Coleman will compete in a crowded slot position that includes Avonte Maddox, Cre'Von LeBlanc and Tremon Smith.

Robey-Coleman became an unrestricted free agent last week after the Rams declined to pick up the option on the final year of his contract. He's also made 23 starts.

During the Rams' Super Bowl season in 2018, Robey-Coleman limited opposing receivers to 295 yards and under eight yards per reception on 58 targets.

The 5-feet-8, 180-pound Robey-Coleman was undrafted and has played with the LA Rams and Buffalo Bills since entering the league in 2013. He has intercepted six passes, returning two for touchdowns.
