On Thursday, her brother Chris Harwick demanded an apology from Williams, telling Fox News, "Domestic violence is something no one should be joking about".

"This is a hard time for my family and for Wendy Williams to make light of this tragedy is very upsetting to us and extremely distasteful", he said.

"My sister worked tirelessly for domestic violence victims and women's rights. Wendy Williams should apologize publicly to my family for her comment". The most recent order expired two weeks ago and, soon after, the two exes reportedly had a run-in at a public event during which Pursehouse is alleged to have "went ballistic", leaving Harwick feeling "very scared" and anxious for her safety, according to a close friend. She was previously engaged to "The Price Is Right" host Drew Carey in 2018, though the engagement ended later that year.

Several viewers took to Twitter shortly after Williams' uncomfortable comment to voice their distaste at the talk show host.

The Los Angeles Medical Examiner's Office ruled Amie's death was a homicide. An autopsy revealed she died of blunt force injuries to her head and torso.

Gareth is facing the death penalty or life in prison without the possibility of parole, if convicted.

Harwick, 38, had "expressed fear" about her former boyfriend, police said.

The Playa del Rey man accused off attacking his ex-girlfriend, well-known Hollywood therapist Amie Harwick, was released on $2 million bond late Tuesday, county inmate records show. She had reportedly seen Pursehouse two weeks before the fatal night. When police arrived at her Hollywood Hills home, they found Harwick on the ground below a balcony.

Officers responded to Harwick's neighborhood at around 1:16 a.m. on Saturday after receiving reports of a woman screaming, police said in a press release issued earlier this week.
