Nivellen does not appear in the games, but he has a card with their name in Gwent. The dude even has plenty of fanfiction written about him, so his arrival in the Netflix show should be a big deal for fans who were built in before the series even started.

For more on Season 2 of The Witcher, read about the big "mistake" of The Witcher: Season 1 that will be rectified in the upcoming episodes, check out what showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich had to say about the fantasy elements in the next season, and find out why Netflix ultimately made a decision to adapt the books and not the games.

The other character is Coën, who will be played by Yasen Atour (Young Wallander). Unlike Lambert and The Witcher's protagonist Geralt, Atour's Coën comes from the School of the Griffin. The character plays a significant role in the novel Blood of Elves, which the second season of the show, set to release in 2021, will be based on, helping the White Wolf to train Ciri in the mountains surrounding Kaer Morhen. That's according to enthusiast blog site Redanian Intelligence, which has apparently acquired a casting breakdown of the season.

Both of these casting choices, which are reportedly for at least three episodes, point toward the shape of the expected Kaer Morhen arc of the show, which will see Ciri taking her first steps toward learning the arts of the witcher.

Plus, while we wait for The Witcher Season 2 to hit Netflix, you can be sure to catch Paul Billion in other fan-favorite (this time sci-fi project) Dune out later in 2020.
