OnePlus is silent for a while now.

It tried to please fans previous year by offering some degree of water resistance on the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro without obtaining an official rating. If the leaks are to be believed, the three handsets that we may see from the company this year will be called OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8 Pro and OnePlus 8 Lite. The most expensive and interesting of them all will be the OnePlus 8 Pro. But now, it seems like the protection standard is going to make an appearance as the OnePlus 8 series is reported to feature IP86 water and dust resistance.

The OnePlus 8 Lite is said to be the company's first affordable smartphone while the OnePlus 8 will succeed the OnePlus 7 from a year ago.

While OnePlus is so far successful in giving competition to top brands like Apple and Samsung by releasing premium quality smartphones at a reasonable price, OnePlus users often complain about the missing IP68 rating and no wireless charging support, both of which are available on pretty much all the top flagship smartphones.

Express Tech is now on Telegram. Although the company clearly sees the rating as unnecessary, it is well worth label or having one to boost the devices feature list and even better compare with other flagships it competes against in the market. A popular leakster Max J. OnePlus 8 Pro will measure 165.3 x 74.4 x 8.8mm in size.

It is now unclear whether the IP rating will be limited just to the Pro version or the cheaper OnePlus 8 and the OnePlus 8 Lite will also support it. All three phones will be shipped with OxygenOS 10 based on Android 10.

Like every year, nearly everything has been revealed about the upcoming OnePlus before the launch.

We should know how true all this is before too long, as the OnePlus 8 range is likely to land around May. It will be the first OnePlus smartphone to come with a 120Hz display.

Here's where it gets a little less believable; the OnePlus 8 Lite will feature a 48MP camera, a 12MP telephoto lens and a 16MP ultrawide-angle lens, while the OnePlus 8 misses out on a telephoto lens and gets a 2MP depth sensor.

As for the back of these phones, it looks like the regular OnePlus 8 is going to feature a vertical camera setup rather than a circular module.

Powering the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro will undoubtedly be Qualcomm's Snapdragon 865.

This leak also doesn't specifically say what level of water resistance the phone will have, but we'd expect IP68, which is the certification most water-resistant phones have, and means they should comfortably survive submersion of 2m for up to 30 minutes. Leaks suggest that the OnePlus 8 Pro will be priced around $799 which roughly translates around 58,000.
