Disney's Queen of Katwe Actress Nikita Pearl Waligwa Dies Aged 15

Ugandan actress, Nikita Pearl Waligwa, actress who played the role of Lupita Nyong'o's daughter in the Hollywood movie Queen of Katwe has died.

It's understood that the she had been diagnosed with a brain tumour and passed away on Saturday evening (15 February) at TMR International Hospital, in Naalya, Kampala.

The movie, Queen of Katwe, is a very Disney movie in that it centers around a family and has a happy ending.

Shortly after the devastating diagnosis, Mira reportedly started a fundraiser and asked people to donate to help pay for Nikita's treatment in India because Ugandan doctors didn't have the necessary equipment to treat her.

She underwent surgery in April that year and according to doctors at Platinum Hospital, the tumour had affected her movements and was in deep pain. "Rest in Perfect Peace dear".
