Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has confessed that record signing Nicolas Pepe's progress has been severely hindered by the huge price tag that has followed him during his debut season in England.

Gunners manager, Mikel Arteta, is not panicking over the prospect of losing rising sensation, Bukayo Saka, as the teen's contract winds down, reinforcing his belief in the ability of the club's directors to resolve Saka's contract impasse.

The former Arsenal manager has only managed to inspire one win since he took over the reins of the north London club in December.

Arteta and his squad benefited from a run of 14 days between February fixtures, a run which ends with the home game against Newcastle United, live on Sky Sports Premier League on Sunday at 4.30pm. "I think they will keep the points when Newcastle visit the Emirates on Sunday", Owen told BetVictor.

"I've found out things I didn't know when I joined and have had to address".

"After that I wanted to reflect on what we've done together in the past five or six weeks, where we've improved and where we can be positive, and the things we need to improve".

Pepe has endured a frustrating start to his Arsenal career, scoring just three goals in the Premier League, and was dropped from the side in their last match against Burnley.

According to reports, Arteta is hoping for the right-back to be match fit in the period of the next two weeks but is still not sure about when Soares will play his first match for Arsenal.

The 24-year-old has begun to find a regular place in the starting line-up under Arteta, but the Spaniard says that he still has a long way to go to find consistency.

"We came here to work, it was like a mini pre-season", said the former Arsenal midfielder.
