The CDC stated that is the very first man under quarantine at Lackland who tested positive for its brand new coroanvirus.

With the number of new coronavirus confirmed cases in China Hubei province reported on Thursday to be 14,840, nearly 10 times the number reported a day earlier, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) confirmed the 14th case of coronavirus with the patient in San Diego.

It's not clear if the patient had recently traveled to Wuhan, China, the epicenter of the outbreak that has sickened more than 43,000 and killed some 1,016 people.

The laboratory service provider said it had immediately engaged with the CDC on its test being available to commercial labs and is preparing to support the global response, if necessary.

"There will probably be additional cases from the coming weeks and days, including one of other individuals lately returned in Wuhan", the CDC said in a statement. "Right now, the best thing ME people can do is to practice good hygiene, stay home if you feel sick, and share your recent travel history with medical providers if you experience fever, cough or difficulty breathing".

The CDC stated the patient is dispersed and getting medical attention at a nearby hospital.
