They have been subject to the CDC's first public health quarantine in 50 years, according to Reuters.

The evacuee was returned to the hospital on Monday after testing positive for the virus.

The patient also did not interact with the environment after leaving the hospital initially, officials said, according to the Post.

It was the 13th known case of the virus in the United States and the first among hundreds evacuated by the US government from China.

Since the first cases of the newly discovered virus were detected back in December in the Chinese city of Wuhan, the epicenter of the outbreak, China's National Health Commission said Wednesday that it has recorded a total of 44,730 confirmed coronavirus cases and 1,113 deaths.

Rear Admiral Nancy Knight, who is running the quarantine operation, said base personnel had been refused housing in the local community due to fears they would spread coronavirus and their children had suffered discrimination at school.

The CDC lab did not realize the specimens were from the Miramar patients. Still, the CDC said Wednesday that it may be optimistic to think the virus cases are peaking.

"The issue with quarantine remains the lack of ability in a closed environment like this to maintain infection prevention measures on a ship", said Dr. Eric Cioe-Pena, director of global health at Northwell Health in New Hyde Park, New York. Any time a person tests positive for a communicable disease such as novel coronavirus, public health departments work to interview anyone they came in contact with isolating those who might have become infected. He remained in isolation or quarantine throughout, health officials said. "It's way too early to predict the beginning, the middle or the end of this epidemic".

Details about the error unfolded on a celebratory day for 195 other evacuees whose two-week quarantine ended on a different California military base.

The officials received a text as they approached the base that said it was an important message, Braden said, indicating how close the infected woman was to mixing with other evacuees.

The request, signed by various evacuees in Wuhan, China, includes a cover page which reads,"Suggestion Letter to CDC". He added that there were only two deaths outside mainland China attributed to the coronavirus. The company, which first announced measures to halt the spread of COVID-19 on January 31, extended the restrictions from March 28 to April 24. "Again, we're not seeing severe disease yet in the United States but those are the numbers".

American Airlines announced its own extension of flight suspensions Tuesday, with plans to resume flights April 23 and 24.
